Well I haven’t been on here for a while and that is due to being so very busy. But today I would like to share with you the latest quilt I have made. I used the dream weaver pattern from Tula Pink’s new book “QUILTS from THE HOUSE of TULA PINK” which you can buy here http://tulapink.bigcartel.com/product/house-of-tula-pink-book-pre-order
It’s a very simple quilt but its beautiful. It worked up very fast for a bed quilt and was a pleasure to make. I made this quilt for my husbands grandparents as she said she would love a quilt in all different bright colors….this fits that description. So here it is….
Here is an update for you on my bed quilt I had been making for the past three months. I finally finished it after lots of strenuous work…my arms are very sore as this quilt is huge and heavy. Now I’m making matching pillow cases and curtains which I will be posting in the future. So here is the quilt, completed and on my bed.
So yesterday was my daughter Fallon’s 7th birthday and she decided she wanted a sewing machine for her birthday. Of corse being an avid sewer myself I said yes! So I was going to order her a sewing machine, but instead she said she wanted one of mine. I gave her one that is just the basics and very easy to use. We are going fabric and supply shopping for her tomorrow. Within the one day that I spent with her teaching her to sew she has learned just about everything! She is such a natural that she was lining up, pinning, and sewing the perfect seam allowances all in one day. She knows how to keep the fabric straight and keep a even sewing speed. I am so very proud of her! She made her own pincushion all by herself, and is making something for her teacher at school. She said she wants to make a thousand things for everyone she loves and is very proud of herself. I love that I now have someone to sew with! I will be setting her up her own kid sized sewing table and chair set right next to mine in my sewing studio. And will post pictures when it is all done. Until then here are a few pictures for you to view.
I am posting some photos of past projects and things I have made in order for you to get to know who I am and what I do. So here they are…
The first project I am blogging about is the quilt I am currently making for my husband and I for our california king size bed quilt. I used the “Windswept” pattern by Tula Pink, who is in fact one of my favorite fabric and pattern designers. The fabric I used is Mill House Inn, Fig Tree & Co. for Moda. I loved piecing this quilt! It’s fun and fast to make even though it is very large. As of now I am currently quilting this quilt and have added some photos of my progress. I will continue to post photos of my progress until it is done. I piece and quilt my quilts on my Singer Stylist sewing machine. I do not use stencils when quilting….I do not like to use them, they are to time consuming for me as I have four children and don’t have much time…and I love the unique look of freehand quilting. I hope you enjoy my photos of my progress.
